PyCrypto kept failing with some missing libraries, and after a bit of investigation, I was able to find the cause.<\/p>\n<p>I had recently upgraded <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.apple.com\/technologies\/tools\/xcode.html\">Xcode<\/a> in order to play around with <a href=\"http:\/\/monotouch.net\/\">MonoTouch<\/a>. During the upgrade, I used the default options, one of which is to <em>not<\/em> install OSX 10.4 support. This apparently was what was causing the PyCrypto build to fail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.insomnihack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/xcode_10_4_support.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-236\" title=\"Xcode 10.4 Support\" src=\"http:\/\/www.insomnihack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/xcode_10_4_support.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.insomnihack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/xcode_10_4_support.png 700w, https:\/\/www.insomnihack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/xcode_10_4_support-300x222.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After reinstalling Xcode with 10.4 support, PyCrypto and Fabric built and installed fine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Installing Fabric on OSX should be rather painless, but I ran into some problems related to PyCrypto when I recently tried getting it running on my Macbook Pro.
